In the field of environmental acoustics P&P can boast an important experience both in the execution of acoustic monitoring campaigns, also integrated by surveys with multiparametric weather stations, and in the execution of forecast studies by means of specific dedicated simulation software such as SoundPLAN or Raynoise.
The interest in these types of activities is mainly connected to acoustic monitoring during the construction of large transport infrastructures (road, railway or airport), to the examination of noise pollution deriving from industrial settlements or to the analysis of the related impact. to important construction sites. Among other things, the company has an important supply of measuring instruments and is therefore able to perform even articulated environmental sound level measurements.
With regard to environmental vibrations, i.e. vibrational disturbance suffered by buildings or their occupants and caused by mainly external sources (construction sites, transport infrastructures, impacting industrial activities), but sometimes also internal ones, P&P is active with the execution of surveys and monitoring both short and long term, performed by means of sensor chains consisting of accelerometers, seismometers and geophones and with high performance automated acquisition systems.
Through subsequent processing, compliance with the limits deriving from the application of the main sector regulations can then be verified. Still about environmental vibrations, P&P performs predictive vibrational impact studies with the construction of specific simulation models that allow a preventive evaluation of the expected disturbance both in terms of potential damage to buildings and disturbance suffered by the population.
BUILDING AND ARCHITECTURAL ACOUSTICS
In the field of building acoustics, in order to design or verify the acoustic characteristics and parameters of buildings and outdoor environments, P&P carries out studies and forecast evaluations both in terms of passive acoustic requirements and architectural acoustics (through the STI and RaSTI parameters , reverberation times and the introduction of acoustic corrections) through the use of specific Ramsete and Noise Insulation software, together with on-site experimental surveys aimed at dimensioning or verifying and testing previously dimensioned design solutions. For carrying out the experimental activity, in addition to class 1 integrating sound level meters, use is made of a walking machine, dodecahedral source and directional box with normalized noise generator.
VIBRATIONS IN THE BUILDING AND ARCHITECTURAL SECTOR
In the building and architectural field, vibrations intervene as a parameter for verifying the dynamic behavior of structures in relation to the following main issues:
- Modal analysis of the structure (proper modes of vibrations and characteristic frequencies)
- Characterization of the behavior of the structure with respect to the seismic load spectrum
- Problems related to comfort
P&P is active with the execution of specialized surveys carried out by means of accelerometer networks and high-performance automated acquisition systems, both with the application of forcing by means of hydraulic or electrodynamic excitation systems (vibrodine) and with environmental forcing and subsequent refined analyzes also with OMA method (Operational Modal Analysis).
For structures such as stairways, grandstands or pedestrian walkways, issues relating to comfort in transit are also dealt with, for example connected to pedestrian-structure interaction, both through the execution of experimental measurements and through dedicated analytical calculations.
Testing tests are also performed on foundation artifacts (poles and diaphragms) through the use of dynamic tests performed with vibrodine, with uniaxial vertical axis shakers or with instrumented hammer, always characterized by measurement of the response with accelerometric sensors and subsequent processing of the dynamic data.
ACOUSTIC TESTS LABORATORY
P&P has a reverberation room suitable for carrying out laboratory tests aimed at evaluating the sound insulation and sound absorption characteristics of products and components or for the characterization of the sound power or sound pressure of machines and equipment according to specific reference standards.
